WEEPING WOMAN TOMB IN RIVERSIDE CEMETERY
Here you can see a depressed woman crying on a burial, perhaps for a family member. She is the source of many urban legend and spooky tales.
She lies over the family plot of the Jacksons, a prominent family who were cousins with a famous Civil War General (Stonewell Jackson). Some say that during a full moon, she stands and walks through the graveyard, weeping over the conflict in the North & South. Others have claimed to see her hands move and have photographed them in different positions.
The Weeping Woman is also said to be a good judge of character. If a person is up to no good, she can be a mischievous presence. She’s been known to tear people’s clothes, trip them and pull on their hair. On the other hand, if someone has a strong character and is pure of heart, they should visit the Weeping Woman, for she will grant them wishes.
Another tale is that if a woman touches the statue, she will conceive in a year. One person claims this is true as his wife & him were trying for a child. She touched the weeping woman and in a year they had their first child.
